Exponential Population Growth and
how the U.S. and the World will end (up).
WHERE WE'RE HEADED, -- by Hal Netkin

The objectives of Environmentalists to purify and recycle the planet's resources are meaningless unless zero population growth is at the top of their list.

The most noted environmental group, the Sierra Club, had in its earlier years put zero population growth as its main goal. But the Sierra Club has caved in to political correctness driven by money on the issue of immigration. They no longer oppose massive immigration (legal or illegal).

The U.S. Census Bureau says that the current annual rate of growth in the U.S. is 0.9 percent which is expected to rise. But using the current growth rate, the U.S. population which is now at 312,838,706 will double in only 78 years to 625,677,412.

Most of the U.S. growth rate is driven by massive immigration mostly by uneducated non-White Hispanics who have the highest fertility rate which may even increase the population growth rate from its current level 0.9 percent. If the U.S. survives nuclear war our troubles won't be over. Immigration will do us in.

Some pro-immigration advocates point to the vast open areas that one sees when peering out of a coast to coast airliner's window as ample space to accommodate high immigration levels for years to come.

But sufficient space isn't the only requirement to enable the addition of millions more to our population -- although exponential population growth will ultimately cause the the U.S. to run out of living space.

The fate of the future of our planet can be determined easily with simple arithmetic. Even so, virtually all of our elected politicians either haven't got a clue about where we are heading and most are willing to sacrifice the future of America for votes. To understand this, please watch this streaming video presentation, Arithmetic, Population and Energy by Dr. Albert Bartlett.

UNDERSTANDING
By Hal Netkin -- In 1996, congress authorized the "Basic Pilot" program. Employers who voluntarily signed up for the program could go on-line to verify a worker's legal right to work in the U.S. In 2006 after a successful ten year run, the program's name was changed from the Basic Pilot to E-Verify. Nevertheless, employers' use of E-Verify remains optional. But there is a House bill authored by Representative Lamar Smith pending which would make E-Verify mandatory on a federal level.

Of course those who oppose immigration enforcement like the ACLU come up with bogus excuses as to why NOT to pass Lamar's bill.

Ironically, some immigration enforcement advocates are also opposed to Lamar's bill because it contains a preemption clause that limits states from doing their own immigration enforcement. Based on the fed's history of NOT enforcing immigration law, many believe that E-Verify won't be enforced at all.

On the other hand, leaving immigration enforcement up to the states may not be a good thing. For example, states with the highest concentration of illegal aliens such as California and New York won't enforce immigration laws at all -- preemption or not.

Here's the bottom line: If President Obama gets reelected, all bets on E-Verify are off. But if Mitt Romney is elected and keeps his promise, there is a good chance that E-Verify will be enforced.

SB 1070 Heard April 25, 2012 at US Supreme Court
Cautious Optimism For Arizona
COURT EXCERPTS and COMMENTS
Source: Arizona Republic, April 26, 2012

The court spent the bulk of its time on SB 1070's Section 2, which includes the requirement that law enforcement check an individual's legal status in certain situations during a (lawful) stop, detainment or arrest.

Solicitor General Donald Verrilli argued that Arizona can't enforce this and other parts of SB 1070 because federal immigration law is the authority of the federal government alone. Verrilli said SB 1070 "maximizes the apprehension of unlawful aliens" and conflicts with federal priorities. But justices seemed skeptical and, at times, highly critical of Verrilli's argument.

Justice Antonin Scalia: "The state has no power to close its borders to people who have no right to be there? What does sovereignty mean if it does not include the ability to secure your own borders? Arizona is not trying to kick out somebody the federal government has not said does not belong here."

Chief Justice John Roberts: "I don't see the problem, This is not an effort to enforce federal law. It's an effort to tell you about violations of federal law. It seems to me the federal government just doesn't want to know who is here illegally."

Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Stephen Breyer, considered two of the court's more liberal justices, seemed to have a mixed opinion on this portion of the law. Both appeared concerned that it may lead to authorities detaining individuals longer while determining their immigration status, but they did not seem concerned with requiring local law enforcement to question individuals about their legal status.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor (not buying Verrilli's arguement): "Come up with something else,"

Verrilli: "allowing this part of the law to go into effect will lead to "mass incarceration of illegal immigrants."

Justice Antonin Scalia (countered): "Solve the problem of mass incarceration by simply deporting these people."

Verrilli: "allowing Arizona to question and incarcerate illegal immigrants raises significant foreign-relations issues."

Justice Antonin Scalia (dismissing Verrilli's arguement): "We have to enforce our laws in a manner that will please Mexico?"
Eric Holder and Janet Napolitano tell me the Arizona immigration law is unconstitutional and the worst law they never read.

But not to worry, even if the courts find SB1070 to be constitutional, my buddy John Morton will NOT cooperate with Arizona.
